What is ET Process™?

ET Process TM is a kind of Enzymatic Transesterification Process which converts plant oil or animal fat into biodiesel or alkyl esters in general term with alcohol, including primary or secondary alcohol continuously.

Why is ET Process™?

It has long been recognized that producing biodiesel by enzymatic approach is the best idea. ET Process™ is the deemed technology.

Description of ET Process™

To produce biodiesel, a general overall production scheme can be expressed by

Plant oil   +   Alcohol              Alkyl esters  +  Glycerin
(Methanol or ethanol)                             (or biodiesel)

or alternatively with fatty acids as the starting material,

Fatty acids  +  Alcohol            Alkyl esters  +  H2O

Therefore theoretically, we should be able to have pure biodiesel and pure glycerin or pure biodiesel and pure water only. And this is indeed the case for ET Process™.

ET Process™can be designed with a single reactor combined with a short-path evaporator or two-reactor in series. For the first case, colorless product is produced normally; while for the latter, the product will be colored. The reactor is filled with the biocatalyst, which is a kind of immobilized lipase. The reactor is a typical packed bed design.

The reaction can be carried out at near ambient pressure and room temperature. A long life cycle for the biocatalyst is expected.

The products obtained are pure biodiesel and pure glycerol normally. Both can meet the commercial standards or norms consistently and directly.

Variations in Feedstocks

The process can be operated with a variety of oil feedstocks, whether fresh or used, pure or mixed, edible or inedible. The alcohol can be methanol, ethanol, or so on.  

One Process Fits All

ET Process™ can be used for production of general alkyl esters as long as the ester product is converted from a transesterification of oil feedstock and alcohol, whether they are primary or secondary. The process does the job nicely.

Advantage

If a power generator is embedded in the system offered, biodiesel and power can be produced simultaneously at home.
